Kim LaTrice pulls "double duty" as on-air personality for both Gospel 1590 KPRT and host of "Joy of Gospel", Sunday mornings, on sister station KPRS-FM. She is also one of the local producers of the Steve Harvey Morning Show on KPRS-FM. Kim is also the voice for "Church News", a weekly update segment on area church events, which can be heard on KPRT-AM.
Kim always knew she wanted to be in radio. She became interested in actually sitting behind the microphone while in college. Kim started her studies in mass communication at Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City where she received an Associate of Arts degree. She then attended Northwest Missouri State University, and obtained a B.A. in broadcasting and a Minor in Multi-Media. She began to sharpen her skills by participating in an internship for a faith based radio station. After being told that she should start her radio career in a smaller market, Kim decided to put her trust in God and follow her instincts. With hard work and determination, Kim was offered a job at Carter Broadcast Group, Inc., one of Kansas City largest broadcasters!
In her free time Kim writes poetry, loves spending time with her husband, and is very active in her home church where she serves as a youth leader and coordinator of the youth drama department. Kim says she's blessed to be in broadcasting, but she also has a love for the the theater. She lives by these words, "Don't kill yourself by worrying about tomorrow, just live for today, and place the rest in God's hands."
